The process of constructing quality backlinks can be a challenging one.

It’s difficult to know how to approach the subject of link building these days because the game rules have changed so drastically over the years.

On top of that, it’s a time-consuming endeavour that has the potential to deliver little in the way of success.

In particular, while seeking fresh chances at the local level, this is true.

I’ve dealt with this problem in the past by focusing a lot of my link building efforts on local organisations in the areas where I’ve worked.

What Local Charities and Events Can Do for You

It’s a great opportunity for marketing professionals to step out of their comfort zone and think creatively.

Because of this, connection building with local organisations is a viable marketing tactic.

Let’s imagine you’re a firm collaborating with a local charity to raise money. These organisations are always on the lookout for new ways to raise money for their cause.

Every year, as part of a 24-hour video gaming marathon, my former employer and I would team up with Extra Life to collect money for a local children’s hospital.

The hospital then published a lengthy write-up on our efforts, which was picked up by several local media sites.

Almost like more traditional P.R., this strategy gets the job done. An act of kindness designed to benefit a worthy cause also generated a lot of publicity for our company.

Local sponsorship can also be used to create links in this manner.

A local children’s hospital in your area might hold an annual marathon to generate money for the hospital’s programmes.

Not only may you benefit from a relevant link to your site, but you can also have your company’s name appear on marathon advertising materials due to sponsoring an event like this.

A major purpose in each of the previously described situations is to help raise awareness of your business in your neighbourhood.

As a result of your efforts, search engines will see evidence of your involvement in the community you’ve chosen to work in. You’re also attracting new clients when you put your name out there.

Identifying Local Non-Profits

Especially if you live in a big city, prospecting for these linkages might take an excessive amount of time.

Not every opportunity you come across will provide you with a viable set of possibilities to make matters worse.

When searching for these opportunities, I strongly advocate using search operators to make the process easier and more efficient.

Your chances of discovering a solution that meets your demands will increase if you use search operators.

The city where I’m working and what I’m looking for is always where I begin my prospecting.

Was I trying to discover Austin events sponsors to sponsor, I’d type something like [austin events sponsors] into Google to see what comes up.

Any Austin-area venues hosting events that prominently feature sponsors will be included here. To show “sponsorships” or an event, you may change this.

The event’s sponsors can be located by using the inurl operator.

As a result, I spent less time qualifying these sites because I knew they had exactly what I needed.

Creating a database is a great way to keep track of the organisations and activities you’re interested in.

Your present clients may not be interested in what you uncover today, but it could be a great fit for a future project. You can also use this as a quick-reference guide for upcoming projects.

Identifying and Evaluating Possibilities

They are the most useful because they are focused on a single topic.

Although these domains are extremely valuable, certain programmes don’t give them good marks; these domains may have the area’s name right in the URL. The reason for this is that these links are more specific.

My next point is that a link’s value goes well beyond its domain authority.

A link’s Domain Authority (DA) is only one of many metrics to consider when evaluating its quality. I usually recommend looking at many metrics to see if the link you’re prospecting is worth pursuing further or not.

To see how a certain site has done over time, I always run it via a programme like SEMrush or Ahrefs as a first step.

When the amount of keywords a site ranks for drops significantly, you can assume that the site has been devalued.

Since this link’s value has plummeted on the site you’re targeting, it’s best to remove it from consideration.

Additionally, it’s a good idea to look at the expected number of visitors the site you’re prospecting receives.

When evaluating links, I’ve always looked at if they’d bring in additional visitors to my site.

Developing Human Connections

My approach to teaching SEO beginners about link building has always been to think of it more as relationship building, especially in the local area.

Take this as an opportunity to educate yourself. The more people know who you are and what you want, the more likely they want to work with you.

Genuineness is essential while establishing these kinds of connections.

Make a difference in your neighbourhood and raise awareness about your company’s products and services.

Do some research on the people you’re hoping to team up with. As a result, there may be even better prospects for advancement.

Enhancing Local Environments

A link building plan that includes local charity and events allows you to take a step back and know that you are making your town a better place.

Investing time and money in these kinds of projects not only help your site rank higher but also improves your community.

That, in and of itself, justifies the effort.


Timeframe: As long as you have the time to devote to link building, this is an excellent local link building strategy.

Results found: The speed at which the page containing the link is crawled after it has been created makes this decision.
